Instagram to show more content from people you don’t follow!

Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri is sharing the plan the planning to add more types of content feeds to the mobile app, which also includes the chronological feed.

Updates to Instagram’s Home Feed

In an update that’s going to be there sometime soon, and is there for testing for select users, the Instagram app will have typical three types of feeds.

The three feeds include:

Home: This is the Instagram experience you have some idea about, the content is ranked algorithmically based on how interested you are in some specific posts.

Favorites: This feed has lots of content from accounts that you often watch and you would not like to miss anything from these feeds. You can choose which accounts are going to appear in this type of feed, kind of like Twitter lists.

Following: This is a chronological list of posts of the accounts you follow.

In a video that was published by the head of Instagram Adam Mosseri, the two new feeds are previewed and details are announced about the changes to the existing home feed.

Mosseri uttered that these huge changes are being made to make people feel great about the time they are going to spend while using the app.

He has a firm belief in providing people with many ways to customize their Instagram feed, so they can create a more positive experience.

Similarly, however, the main feed will remain much away from the content people have opted into.

That’s great news if we are searching for content discovery, as it will create much potential for accounts to get in connection with more people and build a wider audience reach.

Though it will make the experience worse if people suddenly find they’re not finding good enough of the content they would like to see when they will open the Instagram app.

At least they will rapidly switch over to either the Favorites or Following feeds from the drop-down menu which is easily accessible.

As mentioned above, these features are already being tested by some users. Mosseri has stated that he is looking forwards to having a positive experience, the feature would be launched in the first half of this year.
